Carbon footprint is the total greenhouse gas emissions caused by an individual, event, organization, or product, expressed as carbon dioxide equivalent.

SCOPE 1
Direct emissions from sources that are owned or controlled by the company such as emissions from vehicles owned or controlled by the company, boilers, furnaces, vehicles, etc.
SCOPE 2
Indirect emissions from purchased electricity or cooling consumed by the company
SCOPE 3
Indirect emissions from the value chain of the company’s activities from sources not owned or controlled by the company. This includes raw materials, capital goods, logistics, business travel by the team, employees commute to work, waste, etc. This category often accounts for a large chunk of your overall carbon footprint. There are 15 distinct Scope 3 Categories which provide a systematic framework to organize, understand and report. These categories shall be mutually exclusive which means no double counting at the time of calculation.
